Water-Sipping Dinosaur of Limestone

Posted by Chae Designs - Michelle 'Chaella' Boddie | Posted in , | Posted on 1:45 PM

Hello, Everyone! Today's featured photography is of 'Durdle Dor', a limestone formation that looks like a dinosaur drinking water!  Here's a bit more information about this limestone 'dinosaur':

"Durdle Door (sometimes written Durdle Dor) is a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth in Dorset, England. It is privately owned by the Welds, a family who owns 12,000 acres (50 km2) in Dorset in the name of the Lulworth Estate. It is open to the public. The name Durdle is derived from the Old English 'thirl' meaning bore or drill.

The Ron Dawson's children's story Scary Bones meets the Dinosaurs of the Jurassic Coast creates a myth of how Durdle Door came to be, as an 'undiscovered' dinosaur called Durdle Doorus magically transformed into rock." ~ Wikipedia/Durdle_Door

This is Durdle Dor/Door the natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth in Dorset, England.  Doesn't it look like a dinosaur drinking water?

This beach on the Jurassic Coast looks so beautiful!  Compare the size of the people on the beach to the 'dinosaur'; it is HUGE!  I've viewed the first-three Jurassic Park movies, by Steven Spielberg, several times and I'll tell you my sense of humor kicks in with humorous scenarios about such 'dinosaurs'.

Here's another gorgeous view of the beach and a few appetizers, oops, I mean tourists, viewing the limestone 'dinosaur'.

'Durdle Doorus', the 'dinosaur' has had a lot of visitors it seems, according to the feet-like impressions in the sand.

Here, the 'dinosaur's' head, snout in the water, and two humps on its back, are visible at a distance.  We can imagine that its drinking water to wash down the snack it made of whatever left all those impressions in the sand, UNLESS they all ran away to safety!

In this photo it looks as if the 'dinosaur' has closed its eye (on this side, of course) while it drinks water.  Also, it seems to have a content look on its face, as if the appetizers were, delicious!

were much less beautiful than the ONE who rules them all. The Creator of beauty itself created them.
